Working for a company that makes a difference
Based in Oxford UK, Alex Rowland is a Learning & Development Manager. Having worked in the charity sector, Alex wanted to work for a company that helped people and made a difference. For Alex, Siemens Healthineers certainly hit the mark.
Alex's main duties at Siemens Healthineers Magnet Technology include implementing processes and policies surrounding learning and development, building environments that embrace learning, ensuring cooperation with internal and external training providers, and ensuring development of learning programs.
"My days are mainly a mixture of meetings and project work. The meetings range from project related to individual 1:1s with managers and employees to discuss their development needs," explains Alex.
An innovative and collaborative work culture
Alex describes the culture at Siemens Healthineers as being welcoming, ambitious, collaborative and innovative. She finds it rewarding to help colleagues reach their full potential and seeing them develop professionally.
Discussing some challenges in her role, Alex says enacting change across the business can be tricky sometimes. "When working in a fast-paced environment, everyone is busy which can make it tough to tell people that they need to follow a new or improved process, which they may see as more to focus on. However, it is part of my role to create processes that actually make things easier for managers and employees, and show them the benefits of these before implementation."
Saving people's lives at Siemens Healthineers
And for those women looking to join Siemens Healthineers, Alex says: "Magnet Technology is a great place to work, the culture is welcoming and friendly, and the opportunities are plenty. It’s extremely rewarding working for a company that is saving peoples lives with what they do, whilst always striving to do more."
