Top employer Entain has delivered an insightful podcast about how our health impacts how we show up at work, at home, in our relationships, and in ourselves. The podcast addresses physical health, mental wellbeing, energy, stress, and flags some of the small signals that people can sometimes push aside.
The podcast aligns with the Group’s value of 'Do What’s Right' as the company has listened to its colleagues regarding their needs and interests.
The podcast, Health Affects Us All, sees Women@Entain lead Rachael D'Silva collaborate with Darren Butler who is Entain's sponsor of its MENtain group which is a peer-to-peer support group focused on men's mental health.
Health affects us all

Podcast host, Rachael D'Silva [pictured above, second from left - image taken at a 2025 Women@Entain event] is Senior Manager of Governance, Integration & Assurance Office and Chair of Women@Entain Network and has worked in the gambling industry for over 20 years with expertise in Programme Management, Retail, Security & Audit, IT and Internal Audit.
"I’m really pleased to share Episode 2 of the Bitsize Podcast and this one feels a little special," said co hosts. "This episode is a collaboration between men and women, because the title says it all: 'Health Affects Us All.' Health isn’t a 'men’s topic' or a 'women’s topic.' It impacts how we show up at work, at home, in our relationships, and in ourselves. In this conversation, we explore the shared ground, the pressures, the blind spots, the things we sometimes ignore and why open dialogue matters. We talk about physical health, mental wellbeing, energy, stress, and the small signals we often push aside. More importantly, we discuss how better understanding each other’s experiences helps us build stronger teams and stronger support networks. I’m really proud of this collaboration and hope it sparks a few conversations of your own," said Rachael.
Highlighting key health-related issues
In the episode, Rachael and Darren highlight three key health-related issues that affect everyone, regardless of sex, and often invisibly: energy, mood, and shame.
Everyone's energy levels are influenced by sleep, stress, and shift patterns, explain the hosts. However, for women, factors such as periods, conditions like endometriosis, pregnancy and the menopause can further intensify fatigue. Mood is shaped by physical health and hormone changes that can lead to noticeable highs and lows. Rachael and Darren also address topics that are often considered uncomfortable, such as periods, fertility, miscarriage, menopause, prostate checks, and mental health.
Rachael explains: "As a woman, it's sometimes quite embarrassing to have an unexpected period and think 'I don't want to have that conversation with my manager'. That's what Darren and I are trying to do with Women@Entain and MENtain is to make people feel less embarrassed and stop keeping quiet about the topics that we can't control."
"For women, there's a lot of invisible challenges somebody might be dealing with. We've got really painful periods, hot flushes, brain fog, which makes it quite difficult to work for long periods of time when there's constant pressure or even fertility treatment and still trying to show and be the same person you are at work and at home," said Rachael. "In real life, on the shop floor, it might look like someone's being a bit slower. They need more breaks, or being a bit snappier or quieter. Some people just shut down. In the office, it might be the cameras are off during Teams calls, people are not turning up to meetings, or they're not quite being their usual self."
Sharing practical advice and impactful actions
While the episode aims to raise awareness, Rachael and Darren also shared practical steps to support better workplace experiences around health.
Rachael and Darren encouraged people to:
- Check in with colleagues if they notice a change by simply asking a thoughtful question.
- Share one honest sentence about how they're feeling to build understanding and open the door to support or space.
- Make use of existing resources, such as speaking to a line manager or a trusted colleague, and join networks like Women@Entain and MENtain.
"Within those networks you've got the opportunity to collaborate with very like-minded people that are open and welcoming," encouraged Rachael.
