Katie is very excited about her career ahead at Entain.

"I have been working within Entain for well over a decade. I started out in my first role at Entain as a Cashier. During this time, I've worked my way through various roles in store, up to a Marketplace Manager," explains Katie.

Within Katie's current role as a Recruitment Advisor, she works to bring in the best talent in to retail stores. These people are the face of the company, so Katie needs to help ensure that Entain has the right colleagues and correct attitudes being displayed behind the counter for interacting with Entain's customers. "It's a big part of the customer journey that impacts the shops and increases customer loyalty. Having great people helps to enhance our brand," says Katie.

Entain provides many career growth opportunities

Since working at Entain, Katie has seen the company take a very responsible approach to gambling and is now an industry leader.

Entain has provided many valuable opportunities to help Katie develop and grow her career. Katie joined a management programme called Aspire that took Customer Service Managers to the next stage of their career to become Shop Managers. "After graduating from Aspire, 12 weeks later I was very excited about being promoted to the role of Shop Manager," reflects Katie.

When asked about what sets Entain apart from other companies, Katie says that Entain is a leader within the industry due to its with impressive reward and progression schemes. Also, inclusivity is key at Entain, according to Katie.  "There are many different networks, and they're useful and supportive for a whole range of reasons," says Katie. "For example, I’ve joined conversations in partnership with the Menopause Café, Women@Entain , and Be You - the LGBTQ+ community and allies," explains Katie.

Someone who has been very supportive of Katie's career advancement at Entain is one of her former Area Managers. "After going through a serious health problem, my manager really helped me grow my confidence back up and build my self-belief. She truly was a massive support," says Katie, who understands the value of colleagues and team members who demonstrate care and empathy.

A sense of pride and reward from hard work

Katie reflects on two pivotal moments that were turning points in her career.

"I would say the first turning point in my career was when I first became a manager. I felt so proud and felt rewarded that all of my hard work had finally paid off. It was great to be recognised that I had what it took to be a Shop Manager," explains Katie. "A second turning point for me was when I found out that I had been successful in my application to join Entain's Resourcing team. This was something that I had wanted to do for a long time, and I really wanted to be a part of."

Katie says that one of the most valuable lessons that she has learnt during her career is to always believe in yourself. "I think we should never be afraid to reach out for support and ask for help when we need it," says Katie. "Always be yourself and never be afraid to ask for help or support from others."

And with a great career on track, that's not the only positive aspect in Katie's life right now. Katie was married in July 2024 to her loving partner Claire, and they’re enjoying a wonderful life together.
