There's great news from top employer, Colt Technology Services

Women now represent 33% of Colt's global workforce, while 44% of new hires are female, marking continued progress towards an inclusive business.

These milestones are among just some of the company's impressive achievements highlighted in its Sustainability Report, which outlines measurable progress across environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities and proves that the company continues to raise the bar for sustainable digital infrastructure.

Backed by measurable outcomes, clear targets, and transparent reporting, the report demonstrates how Colt actively helps to create a future where performance and sustainability go hand in hand.

Women leaders at Colt, Chief Executive Officer Keri Gilder. and Chief Legal Officer. Caroline Griffin Pain, provide insight into how sustainability is embedded throughout, and influences, the company and its services.

"We aim to make sustainability integral to how we build, operate, and grow Colt. As a provider of critical digital infrastructure, we have a responsibility to deliver high-performance connectivity while minimising our environmental impact, supporting our people, and creating long-term value for customers and society," commented Keri.

“Sustainability is built into our decision making and it shapes how we evolve as a business. We hold ourselves to world-class standards and are continuing to innovate across our digital infrastructure, progressing toward our emissions reduction goals, empowering our people and strengthening trust and governance. There is more to do, but our progress and the dedication behind it give me confidence in the path ahead," added Caroline.

ESG driving sustainable growth

As the digital infrastructure and data centre sectors become increasingly central to a more sustainable future, ESG remains a core driver in how Colt grows as a company. It shapes how the company wins new business, attains and retains talent, responds to emerging regulation, and manages risk in a rapidly changing industry.

Colt's ESG strategies are designed to accelerate its contribution to a more sustainable future while strengthening its financial and competitive performance. Bringing together commitments across people, planet and responsible business, the strategies are underpinned by clear governance, measurable progress, and a focus on what matters most to stakeholders.

Colt's ESG framework is built around four interconnected pillars:

  • Innovation incorporates sustainability considerations into the design and performance of Colt's digital infrastructure, focusing on energy efficiency and circularity, supporting optimised digital solutions for customers.

  • Ambition helps Colt reduce green house gas emissions across its operations and value chain, increase use of renewable energy, protect natural resources, and become the sustainable supplier of choice, supporting its customers’ ESG priorities.

  • Empowerment creates meaningful connections across Colt's workforce, communities and business relationships, grounded in inclusivity and integrity. This pillar also enables Colt to empower employees to thrive and innovate, give back within communities, and collaborate with suppliers on shared ESG goals and values.

  • Trust ensures Colt meets stakeholder expectations for ethical and responsible business practices as a digital infrastructure and data centre provider through digital trust, strong governance, effective risk management and transparent, data-backed reporting.

Empowering people through inclusion

Colt's vision is to empower employees to thrive, adapt to change and deliver innovation for shared success. This vision is supported by core focus areas: leadership and culture, equitable business practices, and diverse representation.

Colt leaders are inclusive role models who drive a culture where Colt can harness diversity of thought for greater success. Equitable business practices improve the employee experience and affect positive change, while a focus on representation helps ensure the workforce reflects the customers and communities Colt serves. Furthermore, robust governance measures Colt's success and maximises impact through industry collaboration.

Advancing gender equality

The Sustainability Report demonstrates how Colt continues to strengthen its gender diversity pipeline by addressing functional and regional gaps, while increasing accountability for balanced hiring and career progression.

For example, the company became a signatory to the UNGC Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP), and joined the UNGC Target Gender Accelerator Programme, benchmarking its Gender Action Plan against global best practice through the WEPs Gap Analysis Tool. These actions gave Colt a clearer insight into its current strengths and future steps.

To further promote gender diversity, Colt has delivered a range of targeted programmes to address representation gaps and strengthen progression pathways for women across the organisation. These have included Lean In Circles & Embrace, which have offered mentoring, peer learning, and leadership development for more than 500 women; ThriveWell, Colt's comprehensive wellbeing offering provides menopause‑inclusive support, a fertility toolkit and trained Women’s Health Champions; a Parental Leave Buddy Scheme, supporting colleagues returning to work; a Women on Boards partnership providing mentoring and board-readiness training; the Empowered Women in Tech campaign and Women in STEM programming, designed to attract, inspire and develop the next generation of female tech talent; and Aspire2Tech reskilling, helping over 30 women transition into or advance in technical roles.

Supporting women's health

During the reporting year, Colt also strengthened its wellbeing ecosystem with two initiatives within its global wellbeing programme, ThriveWellthat made women's health support more accessible. The company's Women’s Health Champions provides colleagues with trusted, local points of contact who raise awareness, answer questions and help them access the right support when they need it. They play a crucial role in normalising conversations and ensuring women feel seen, supported and understood. To complement this, Colt's Fertility Support Toolkits offer clear, practical guidance for anyone navigating fertility treatment or related challenges. The toolkits include signposting, advice and manager guidance to help reduce stigma and ensure colleagues receive sensitive, consistent support throughout their journey.

Inspiring the next generation of women in STEM

In 2025, Colt launched the Women in STEM competition to inspire the next generation of female technologists.

Women aged 18–24 were invited to write a letter from their future selves, imagining the careers they will build in STEM. Three standout finalists were selected by senior women in tech at Colt to receive mentoring from a Colt leader and £1,000 (or local equivalent) to support their development.

Employee networks driving belonging

The report also demonstrates how employee networks play a central role in building a diverse, inclusive workplace at Colt where colleagues can connect, lead and grow while ensuring every voice is heard.

Among these networks is Women+@Colt, which supports women and allies, promotes gender balance and helps create an environment where women can thrive.
