Working for a company with a strong social conscience be a rewarding experience. As a global digital infrastructure company, Colt aims to help underrepresented groups discover the potential of digital technology.

Various fundraising initiatives help Colt achieve this goal, such as its charity bike ride.

Taking part in Colt's biggest fundraiser

Colt's 2024 bike ride saw 175 riders and 45 support crew fundraise for 22 charities. The 450km route took the Colt riders from Brussels in Belgium to Düsseldorf in Germany with an impressive elevation of 3,830m.

"Our biggest fundraising event brings people together for a common goal: raising money for great causes with a challenging bike ride. Over the past eight rides, we've raised €1.2 million for charities globally," says Colt.

Supporting digital inclusion and education

Colt employees were fundraising for charities supporting educational initiatives focusing mainly on digital inclusion, digital skills, technologies for good and promoting STEM education, with a special focus on disadvantaged and vulnerable groups.

The charitable theme for the 2024 year’s bike ride aligned with Colt's CSR focus and Global Social Impact Strategy on digital inclusion and digital education.

Embodying resilience and mental strength

Meet Carly, who is on the Capital Market Sales Team at Colt. Carly was one of Colt's inspiring riders in the Colt Bike Ride.

Just 18 months after a life-changing accident, Carly was gearing up to ride 450km for Colt's charity bike ride, embodying resilience and mental strength.

"I was skiing with my best friend in France. The conditions had changed, it got really icy, faster than it should have. I heard a telltale pop in my knees and I was in a serious amount of pain. I ended up tearing all four of my major ligaments in my right knee, and breaking that leg as the femur and tibia smashed into each other," explains Carly.

"My normal day-to-day and the things I enjoy and love were replaced with pain and waiting. I was in so much pain and so focused on physical therapy and getting physically better that taking care of my mental health just kept taking a back burner. Taking time away from mental health is no different than taking time away because of a broken leg. I actually took more time away for managing my mental health than I did for the actual surgery and accident," continues Carly.

"My accidents have made me reflect on the importance of mental strength, but it's just crazy because I don't feel like I have mental strength. But when I look back and tell these stories I must have, because I'm still smiling," says Carly.

"Take care of your mental health, whatever that looks like for you. It's just so important to lean on the people in your community. If you feel like you don't have one, you've got one in me, and you've got on at Colt," adds Carly.
