Or maybe you're looking to apply for a role with Colt Technology Services and some background context could prove useful.

Catch Colt Technology Services Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Keri Gilder in this 'must-watch' conversation with IDC Research Manager, Chris Silberberg, as they discuss what’s next for the industry and why Colt is three to four years ahead of the competition. Hear their thoughts on how businesses can gain operational efficiency, future customer needs, why CIOs are having to do more with less, and why the industry will see significant structural transformation.

The conversation also delves into what Colt has learned from the acquisition of Lumen Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and why Colt is excited not fearful of coming changes.

An exciting time for the future of Colt

Colt has continued to be synonymous with connectivity, sustainability and customer service. Social, environmental and technological change is all around, but a common denominator within that change is the role of telecom networks that are connecting people, information and things, as well as enabling people to take other technologies to make that change positive.

Chris begins the conversation by asking Keri about what is changing at Colt, and what is getting her excited about the future.

"I think there's a lot of things to be excited about," says Keri.

"This is a time of transformation, whether it's at Colt, it's within the industry, or it's actually out in the world, on a large scale. That comes with sustainability..."

Supporting customers through the AI journey

When thinking about investment, Chris asks Keri how Colt is supporting its customers on their AI journey and really driving value.

"I think AI right now is highly around productivity gains, and so it's enabling them to get the data when they need the data, to be able to assure that the data is quality...," comments Keri.

"We're using AI within our environment and we're building out a platform that will enable our customers to have visibility to what is happening in their networks so it'll be proactive understanding of vulnerabilities it also allows them to do green pathing. So as they're trying to meet their Science Based Targets they can see which route actually has more carbon versus others and they can make a choice as to which one they want to pick. And then when it comes to data sovereignty, we can also help them when we look at what we call intent-based networking, it's what is your intent on where you and want your data to go and when you want it to go in that direction and give the customer more control of that environment. So I think it's it's those elements of observability, sustainability, security and simplicity all coming together."

Colt has a commitment to sustainability

The conversation then addresses where does Colt makes AI sustainable, as well as how the company supports sustainability.

"Colt, I think, started to look about look at sustainability, before we had targets, before we needed to do reporting, and before it was cool, and that was about five years ago, and we decided at that point that as a telecommunications operator we were going to be sustainable by design, so everything that we do within the company starts with sustainability: environmental sustainability, social sustainability, employee sustainability, business sustainability and customer sustainability," shares Keri.

"We have to continue on our journey on making sure everything we do within building outside building with our customers and designing our networks is sustainable and we've been very good at that so far. We have EcoVadis Platinum...we're the only telecoms operator that can claim that, and we've been claiming that for the last couple of years. We have a CDP Carbon Disclosure Project Level A, which is very good. We're committed to the UN Climate Pact. We've done a lot of things to make sure that we're green and that our employees are are habitually thinking about it," discusses Keri.

"We continually lead in innovation, whether it be network as a service or sustainability, and I think we can lead in this and we can help others understand those actions that have to be taken in order to become more sustainable. At the same time, we're currently working on two papers, one to the EU and one to the UK government, specifically around the trifecta of power, data center, and connectivity, to bring those voices to the table at the same time...It's critical that we actually have a combined perspective and that we're working with governments to move their AI and their digital economy agendas forward."

Colt's vision for the future

The conversation concludes with Keri highlighting her vision for Colt moving forwards to 2030.

"My vision is that when you open up the newspaper, you'll see that Colt is the most sustainable telecommunications company in the world, that we're the most scalable telco company in the world, meaning we can get our customers anywhere in the world that they want to go, and we can do that on demand, and we make it simple for our customers to interact with us so they like doing business with us," says Keri.

"It's that geographic scale. It's the simplicity. It's the scalability. And then it's also this drive for sustainability by design," concludes Keri.
