Are you a woman aged between 18-24 years old and aspiring to work or study in STEM?
Perhaps you already do?
If so, Colt Technology Services wants to hear what future you will achieve in a career in STEM. Maybe one day you’ll do that at Colt. However old you are, if you fall within the age bracket, Colt wants to hear your ideas.
Enter Colt's exciting competition and be in the chance of winning £1,000, or the local equivalent in your country's currency, that you can use towards your career development plus a mentoring opportunity with a female leader from Colt.
So what do you need to do?

Write a letter from your future self.
Colt wants you to compose a letter, from your future self, 10 years from now. Put yourself 10 years into the future and imagine that you have been working in your dream role within technology. Perhaps this is even as part of Colt.
Share your achievements in present tense, as if it really is you from the future. Your letter will be addressed to a young woman interested in a career in STEM to show just how much you have achieved as a woman in technology.
Tell Colt the things you would like to achieve as though you have already done so. Exciting things that bring good, celebrating each specific change and breakthrough that you are proud to share with the world.
By writing this letter to another young woman, you will be encouraging them to make their own future achievements and keep on pushing for better.
Add your entry by May 5, 10am BST.
What do you need to think about when writing?
This letter should detail and celebrate all your ‘achievements’ of the past 10 years working in Technology. Be clear on all that you have achieved and how. Think about:
How does ‘future you’?...
- Step outside your comfort zone and want for better?
- Ensure non-stop learning to be your very best?
- Show your unique blend of technical and personal skills?
- Lead on challenging projects or something new to you?
- Collaborate with different people with different minds and ways of thinking?
- Get recognised and rewarded for your achievements?
- And most importantly, how does your female community support and inspire you along the way and how do you do the same for them?
Explain how things have changed during your time and share the changes you think could still happen in the future, that would further support women in STEM.
Colt wants to immediately recognise the incredible work you have done, how you have done it and what this means for other women in the industry and inside Colt.
So what is next...
Think you’re up for the challenge? Then Colt would love to hear from you! Write a 500 word letter to introduce Colt to future you.
The most important thing of all – do not be humble! Colt wants you to celebrate what it is you have achieved even if it is yet to happen.
"This is your future. Use it wisely!" says Colt.
