Meet Colt HR Manager, Sue Su, who explains why working global company aligns with her passion for discovering different cultures.
Positive first impressions
When Sue decided to do a Masters in Liverpool UK, she was working in HR and wanted to learn both English and more about business operations.
"When I first arrived, I needed to open up a bank account, so I went up to someone in the street and asked where the nearest branch of my bank was – it was a local man with a strong accent and I couldn’t understand a word of what he was saying," reflects Sue. "He was the first person I talked to so I thought to myself, if I can’t understand him, how am I going to understand any of my professors? He could see that I didn’t understand what he was saying, so he walked me to the bank instead. It was definitely a good first impression of the UK."
Discovering new cultures
Sue believes the decision to study in the UK was the most impactful one she's ever made.
Sue had the opportunity to meet so many people from different countries, and understand the differences between her and them.
"It’s very helpful for my role in HR – I’m so interested in discovering and appreciating other cultures. It’s great to work at Colt because we’re a global company, so I get to do that every day," says Sue.
