From graduates to apprentices, Colt's network of bright, connected minds is transforming the way that people work at a time of digital transformation. Colt offers both Graduate and Apprenticeship Schemes, and has Graduate Schemes in Europe and the UK, and as of 2020, in Japan and India.

"To me what really sets Colt apart is the opportunity to connect with people all over the world," says Colt Executive Analyst, HR, Zeeshan Khan.

"The Colt Apprenticeship Scheme is normally a year and a half similar to a normal job role, alongside that some studies which gets you a qualification at the end. I do have quite a lot of responsibility, having global accounts my name when I'm only 19, but it's been a good set to deal with similar companies in the future," comments Colt Business Support Capital Markets apprentice, Jaye McGee.

"They have the skills, they have been taught, they have gone through training, and now they've been given even more responsibilities, so they have the opportunity to lead even more and that sense of being able to lead something bigger really excites me," says Colt Project Management Graduate, James Belli.

"We're a company of four or five thousand people, but we're still small enough to make sure that every person matters and the fact that you know what you do on a daily basis really makes a difference in the company," explains Colt Head of Asia, Masato Hoshino.

"A fresh mind could bring a different mindset altogether as to how the business can go forward," says Colt Engineer, Billing Solutions and Control, Mohammed Irfan Khan.

"They give you new ideas, new opportunities to explore in the areas, so you know you get exposure," comments Colt Engineer, Application Development Team, Apeksha Ambala.

A network of bright, connected minds

Early talent infuses Colt with energy and keeps the company thinking of new ways to serve its customers. Colt graduates and apprentices say they feel like they're part of the bigger picture, and are having a really vital role in the positive work that Colt is doing.

"Colt is very forward-thinking company, it's very important for the future to have employees that have fresh ideas, that know what needs to be done in future to make sure that Colt is successful within the market trends and the new technologies," says James.

Supporting one another through mentorship

"We have a buddying program where new graduates get given a mentor, but you also encouraged to kind of reach out to anybody that you think will be a role model, or you would want advice from. I've always been keen to find other women in the business that I can look up to, and I feel that it's important as the younger generation of graduates come through. It's something I can pay forward and become a good mentor myself," says Shubha.

"I engage with my mentor straight away and since then it's been really good. It gives me the opportunity to keep in check the more personal skills rather than my actual job, and understand what opportunities I have in front of me and which ones to take," says James.

"It really is a testament that they believe in you and believe in your ability to work at Colt," comments Chris.

Exciting early career opportunities with Colt

Colt believes in giving graduate talent the opportunity to explore a variety of experience within its business functions. The company has eight programmes across five business functions. Each programme is tailored to give employees the best learning and development experience within Colt's teams and gives employees the responsibility to drive their projects forward.

"Telecommunications is not just about making a phone call anymore. When you think about it today, we live in a digital society. So our everyday life is pretty much dependent on technology, whether it's communicating, researching, working, visiting events, all these amazing things couldn't happen without the technology behind it. So working in a company that provides the digital infrastructure and enables all these amazing things to happen it's what makes it so exciting, and I can't wait to see what's more to come in the future," explains one Colt employee.

"Well it's fun, fast and exciting," states a further Colt employee.

"Working in telecoms is challenging, fun, and friendly," says another Colt employee.

"It's amazing working in telecoms and technology. It's always changing, it's dynamic, it's where the forefront of what's going on in the world is, and it's a great place to work," adds a further Colt employee.

"Working in telecoms is really interesting because we're connected to so many different customers around the world, and they all do different things. Capital markets, Finance enterprises and to be able to work with them to run their business is so interesting," adds a Colt employee.

"A great thing about working technology and in connectivity is that we are enabling the future to happen. We're going to be the ones that are the backbone of all of the emerging technologies and so it's really exciting to think that our work that we're doing is really enabling all of the future innovations," says a further Colt employee.

"So, working in telecoms and especially Colt is really great because we manage to be at the forefront of innovation, so whether it's connecting your customers in real time, so in minutes, you can provision a whole network, and you can connect to your end customers, you can connect to the cloud and do all your ethernet Services. You've got internet services, and you can do that in real time. Similarly, if you want to connect really, really high bandwidth to the clouds or data centers, again you can do that over a CMS Network and this is on a global product as well," concludes a Colt employee.
