AECOM has a brilliant podcast called 'Talking Infrastructure'.
Roma Agrawal, Associate Director of Buildings and Places at AECOM, and James Banks, Head of External Relations at AECOM Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), discuss hot topics, key projects and innovations that are helping to solve some of the world's most complex infrastructure challenges.
Discussing infrastructure with the experts
Lara Poloni, Chief Executive of AECOM EMEA, tweeted her excitement for the new podcast that's first episode features Hannah Vickers, Chief Executive of the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE), and Colin Wood, Chief Executive, Civil Infrastructure, EMEA. With Roma and James, Hannah and Colin discuss the future of city infrastructure in London.
'Talking Infrastructure' co-host Roma has had an impressive and extensive career in engineering, working on several major projects including the Shard in London. Roma is an active campaigner for diversity in the construction industry, striving to support women in engineering through social media, podcasts and interviews. She was voted one of Management Today's Top 35 Women Under 35 and has sat on the Diversity Panel of the Construction Industry Council.
After being a finalist herself in 2012, Roma was also a keynote speaker at the IET's Young Women Engineer of the Year award ceremony in 2016, and is listed as one of the top Inspiring Women in Engineering by the Women's Engineering Society. Roma has also received a prestigious award from the Royal Academy of Engineering for her outstanding efforts to promote careers in the industry.
"A diverse team – in terms of gender, age or background – can help us understand and empathise with the needs of the people who will benefit from the projects we deliver," says Roma.
Tackling challenges facing our cities
'Talking Infrastructure' is part of AECOM's 'Talking Cities' podcast series. 'Talking Cities' accesses the leaders creating, shaping and improving cities. Through candid conversation, listeners can find out what makes them tick, and how they are improving our economic, cultural and social epicentres.
Each episode of Talking Cities interviews public and private sector leaders like former Chief Economist at AECOM Australia Anna Chau who are tackling the challenges facing growing cities and their citizens. AECOM's podcast also finds out what drives them personally and what type of legacy they hope to leave on the cities they call home.
