Lizzy Wat is Talent Supply Chain Head for Capgemini. Lizzy shares her insights on how Capgemini has empowered her with the power of connection – connecting with great people and great ideas.
How do you feel in the morning getting up and going to work at Capgemini?
Imagine you work with lots of entrepreneurs every day, the people who surround you share positive energy, creative ideas, and are bold in their beliefs – that’s the FUN that wakes me up every day and get me through the day. Every day brings a new adventure, and all I have to do is be ready for it.
What do you love about your job?
I am part of the procurement team in charge of the China and APEC cluster countries procurement team. As a procurement professional, saving and negotiation are no longer the only KPIs to evaluate our performance. On the contrary, we have to engage suppliers and business together, be ambassadors for the Group, and deploy to other countries. These days, is all about the ecosystem. Just be part of it and enjoy it!
How does Capgemini empower you to master your skills?
Capgemini has empowered me with the power of connection – connecting with great people and great ideas. These soft skills have influenced me a lot in my job. I now understand what drives people to speak the same language with business stakeholders and to work together intelligently.
How does Capgemini help support your sense of purpose in your career?
Capgemini is a global company, but at the local level, it’s really a “Glocal” company. It respects culture and behavior, making your goals you invest easier to achieve – that’s amazing. I joined Capgemini two years ago and tried to organize a supply day in China, this is the first activity for which I needed executive endorsement. When I pitched the idea and its benefits, my managers said, “if it’s good for the company, why not?”
How does Capgemini give you the autonomy to make decisions?
Yes! This is what I like most about working here. If you have a good idea, a solid plan, and strong collaboration skills, you can just propose the business case, making sure that it is convincing and trackable – that’s it!
What do you love about the way of working at Capgemini?
I love the way people gather together and think about how to achieve and excel at their goals, and how to lead demanding clients and demanding teams. I love brainstorming with my team because our solution is usually a mix of all of our ideas. Working here is like working in an art studio – you can always be inspired and, suddenly, a great innovation is born!
How does this all combine for you to have passion for what you do?
I love working with people, and at Capgemini, people come from all walks of life. Capgemini is truly diversified and embraces various types of talent. It’s like a tree whose branches spread in many directions, providing fruit to all who pass beneath them. The more I discover, the more I find my real interest: to unleash people’s potential, talent, and passion.
What was your most memorable moment in your Capgemini journey?
I believe recognition is important. My manager and leadership team recognize and reward my achievements. The most memorable moment for me was when I joined the 2018 Connect & Drive program. This deep self-discovery journey with Capgemini has been unforgettable, and I feel that I know the company better now.
What are you an Ace at?
I Ace creative thinking, I Ace leading changes.
