She worked her way up to become a project manager before deciding to explore a new career venture. Now with Capgemini, she shares her career story.
A solid background in Software Engineering
"I worked in the contracting market for a few years before joining Capgemini, initially as a contractor. I quickly learned about the benefits Capgemini offer their employees, and engaged with their values. When a permanent opportunity appeared I grabbed it with both hands," says Renam.
A typical working day for Renam includes starting by checking emails and travelling to the client site, where she attends meetings with client staff, Capgemini colleagues and partners to manage various processes. "It’s a fast-paced environment where I really thrive: no two days are the same and there is always a variety of new challenges and opportunities," she adds.
Planning her career path and development
Renam says as a contractor she never took the time to plan and grow her career. Capgemini, however, provides valuable support, tools and time to enable Renam to plan and develop her career.

"At Capgemini there’s so much support, including a vast range of people, training opportunities and career managers. It’s quite surprising to find all the different people who can offer new opportunities, or tell you about them. I always try to have open conversations about career plans with career managers and mentors, because this helps them provide the right guidance and help."
Highlights so far at Capgemini
A highlight for Renam has been applying for and joining the Capgemini Service Integration (SI) Academy. This was a new opportunity to build her skills and take on a new role away from home. "I have gained an all-round knowledge of the SI practice, plus the skills to succeed there and a network of resources to engage with," she says.
Renam says the best thing with Capgemini is the people. "They make life enjoyable, because you feel that your work is valued and that you are really part of Capgemini," she says.
"The mentoring and support at Capgemini is of great value in building your career," she adds. "It’s well worth taking the time for career and mentor meetings – these are a great opportunity to step outside your day-to-day role and think about how you are performing against your career progression plans, and request support if required."
Life outside work for Renam

"I have become a cricket fan, especially enjoying the fast-paced T20 and one-day games (not real cricket according to some). I try to go to the gym but hardly ever succeed – I prefer a class or a game of badminton to keep me in shape," she adds.
