Celebrations are in store for Honeywell after The Honeywell Hometown Solutions India Foundation (HHSIF) won the Corporate Social Responsibility Foundation of the Year Award at the India CSR Summit.

HHSIF was selected as the winner based on the strength of its portfolio of programs, which have benefited nearly 1.9 million people across eight Indian states. The foundation beat more than 100 other applicants across various award categories.

Committed to improving the world we live in 

“Honeywell is committed to improving the world we live in by creating, supporting, and nurturing outstanding CSR programs that make a sustainable and measurable impact on communities we serve,” said Akshay Bellare, President, Honeywell India.

“Honeywell’s CSR efforts focus on four critical areas that are aligned with the Governments CSR schedule and the Sustainable Development Goals: STEM education, child safety, sustainability, and humanitarian relief.”

HHSIF is a not-for-profit organization that deploys efforts in five critical areas:

• science and math education
• family safety and security
• housing and shelter
• sustainability
• humanitarian relief 

Powered by important partnerships

Many of the foundation's key initiatives are powered by partnerships with nonprofit organizations, such as the Safe Kids at Home program, managed jointly with Safe Kids Foundation India. The program is expected to provide fire safety education to more than one million children and parents by 2020.

Safe Kids at Home empowers children to become change agents for building resilience in their communities. Implemented by SEEDS India, Honeywell Safe Schools takes a comprehensive approach to school safety. It seeks to ensure that children go to school without fear, remain safe in school, and return home safely. This is a pioneering school safety program addresses the unique issues of each school or location involving structural assessment of each school by engineers and architects; evaluation of risk perception; and examination of preparedness in the face of any natural or manmade disaster.
