Prime employer for women, Capgemini UK, is once again celebrated in The Times Top 50 Employers for Women list that highlights leading UK employers that make gender equality part of their business strategy and who work to bring it to life at all levels within their organisation.
Capgemini UK knows that gender equality and inclusion are critical to their success – it underpins their people’s experience at work, it’s integral to building relationships with its clients, and is absolutely key to innovating for the sustainable and inclusive future that we all want. In 2020, Capgemini UK showed resilience and agility - and they are proud to have continued to drive their gender and inclusion strategy throughout the business uncertainty, listening and engaging to mitigate the longer-term impact of the pandemic on its people.
Bal Gill, head of employee experience and inclusion at Capgemini says: “Treat inclusion as any other business priority and strive to raise the bar, year on year. The world is evolving and we must ensure we do too. And ensure that respect forms a key part of our approach: we can’t create a truly inclusive culture without it.”
In these different circumstances over the last year, Capgemini UK has continued and adapted their work:
- Ensuring their people feel connected and supported throughout working remotely, especially women coping with caring responsibilities, educational disruption, isolation.
- Uniting their local gender networks together in Women@CapgeminiUK – chaired by one of their Vice Presidents and empowering their communities to support each other, extend event invitations and celebrate individual and collective successes.
- Recognising that they are all guests in each other’s homes – fostering respect and empathy through communications sharing individual stories, underpinned by the principles of their Homeworking charter.
- Focusing on physical and mental wellbeing – providing support, fostering empowerment to work in a sustainable way; especially through Time4You – our series of virtual events on everything from, parenting, women’s health, fitness to favourite records, empowering people to take time out for themselves.
- Ensuring their recruitment approach is inclusive through actions such as balanced shortlists, advertising roles on diverse hiring job boards, updated hiring manager training.
- Keeping gender balance a focus when succession planning for all key leadership roles.
- Continuing their programme of targeted mentoring opportunities for women.
- Providing opportunities to grow personal networks through virtual events and motivate through inspirational speakers.
