AECOM's business in the United Kingdom has received Gold Award by The Armed Forces Covenant, the highest accolade under the Ministry of Defence’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).
This award recognizes organisations that pledge, demonstrate and advocate support to the Armed Forces community and align their values with the Armed Forces Covenant.
Meeting requirements for Gold award
Qualifying for a Gold award required AECOM to have met a number of stipulations, including:
- Signing the Armed Forces Covenant
- Holding a valid ERS Silver Award
- Proactively demonstrating forces-friendly credentials as part of AECOM's recruiting and selection processes
- Ensuring that AECOM's workforce is aware of positive policies towards defence people issues
- Leading within its market sector and advocating support to defence people issues to partner organisations, suppliers and customers with tangible positive results
Joining a group of gold standard employers
AECOM has joined other Forces-friendly employers, including Boeing, JP Morgan, and Tesco, to drive the aims of the Armed Forces Covenant and tighten the ties between Defence and employers.
The Alumni Group, created in partnership with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD), brings together companies who have received the Gold Award and have signed the Armed Forces Covenant.
The Alumni Group is working closely with MOD to promote the Armed Forces Covenant, champion Armed Forces engagement with employers, share best practice and provide an informed and influential stakeholder sounding board for new initiatives.
Transition into a civilian career with the support of AECOM
AECOM continues to accelerate the recruitment of ex-servicemen and women to join its UK operations in a range of roles, in disciplines such as engineering, construction, project management and support roles, including HR, legal and finance.
