Capgemini is again recognized by Ethisphere, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices, as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies. This is an acknowledgment of Capgeminis ethical culture that makes the company an employer of choice and responsible player in the eyes of clients, shareholders, and the wider community.
135 honorees were recognized spanning 19 countries and 46 industries. This is Capgemini’s 11th recognition in a row highlighting, once again, the Group’s strong ethical culture rooted in its core values and reflected in its Code of Business Ethics.
An innovative and ethical company culture
Ethics and its seven values are at the heart of Capgemini's corporate culture and all its business dealings. In 2010, Capgemini set up a formal ethics program, with its values at its core. This extensive program was crucial for the success of a diverse, decentralized Group like Capgemini, with multi-cultural teams operating in more than 50 countries.
Sustaining Capgemini's ethical culture needs constant innovation. In 2021, the company published a brand new Human Rights Policy and Code of Ethics for AI, after listening to employees through surveys, and strengthened the company's speaking up culture, among other things.
“As a trusted business partner to our clients and with 360,000 team members operating in over 50 countries, we aim to be an ethical leader and role model,” commented Jerome Simeon, Group Head of Ethics & Global Industries, Group Executive Board Member at Capgemini. “This World’s Most Ethical Company recognition, for the 11th year in a row, honors our team’s collective efforts to live our values by making ethical business choices every day – each one contributing to our ethical culture, helping to create the future we all want.”
“Ethics matters. Organizations that commit to business integrity through robust programs and practices not only elevate standards and expectations for all, but also have better long-term performance,” said Ethisphere CEO, Erica Salmon Byrne. “We continue to be inspired by the World’s Most Ethical Companies honorees and their dedication to making real impact for their stakeholders and displaying exemplary values-based leadership. Congratulations to Capgemini for earning a place, once again for the 11th year running, in the World’s Most Ethical Companies community.”
Honoring companies excelling in three areas
World’s Most Ethical Companies was launched in 2007 by the Ethisphere Institute to publicly acknowledge and celebrate companies that demonstrate real ethical leadership within their industries. Ethisphere honors companies that excel in three areas – promoting ethical business standards and practices internally, enabling managers and employees to make good choices, and shaping future industry standards by introducing tomorrow’s best practices today.
Honorees have historically outperformed others financially, demonstrating the connection between good ethical practices and performance that’s valued in the marketplace.
Capturing leading practices of global companies
Ethisphere’s Ethics Index, the collection of publicly traded companies recognized as recipients of this year’s World’s Most Ethical Companies designation, outperformed a comparable index of large-cap companies by 13.6 percentage points over a five-year period.
Grounded in Ethisphere’s proprietary Ethics Quotient®, the World’s Most Ethical Companies assessment process includes more than 200 questions on culture, environmental and social practices, ethics and compliance activities, governance, diversity, and initiatives that support a strong value chain. The process serves as an operating framework to capture and codify the leading practices of organizations across industries and around the globe.
