WTW internships are designed to provide maximum insight into WTW's business and the best possible preparation for a future career.
WTW interns apply what they've learned at university to real-life intellectual challenges. They gain immediate exposure to client assignments doing work that takes them out of their comfort zone, offering something new and unexpected every day.
WTW Senior Associate, Katherine Pound, shares her journey working as an intern with WTW, the ways in which she has developed, and why this was the best career choice for her.
Exciting actuary opportunities with WTW
Katherine is an Actuarial Consultant in the retirement team with WTW, and undertook an internship on the Retirement Actuarial Program in the UK, where she worked in the Reigate office.
Katherine chose to enrol on a WTW internship because she wanted to find out more about working as an actuary.
"I knew that working at a leading global consultancy would offer a huge range of opportunities," says Katherine.
Applying key skills to live client work
Katherine explains that she developed as a WTW intern by gaining confidence and improving her communication and problem-solving skills.
"I especially enjoyed the training and being able to apply what I'd learned to live client work," Katherine recalls.
Finding a career that is challenging and inspiring
Katherine's goals upon finishing the WTW internship program was to have enjoyed the experience and to have made the most of all the opportunities.
"It was then definitely a bonus to be offered a graduate role so that I didn't have a job hunt in my final year at uni, and on top of that to have found a career that challenges and inspires me, and that I can see myself in long term," explains Katherine.
Katherine's advice for future WTW interns
Katherine's advice for anyone looking to join WTW on the internship program is, where possible, to look for opportunities to speak to WTW colleagues about their experience, perhaps at a recruitment event.
"Or alternatively even just reaching out via LinkedIn," Katherine adds.

- Benefits Delivery and Administration
