Organized by Women in Aviation, Girls in Aviation Day sees events run across the world introducing girls and young women to the career and lifestyle possibilities in aviation and aerospace. Girls have the opportunity to meet role models, take part in career panels, and explore airplanes and airports.
Celebrating pilot Erika Armstrong
Honeywell shared an inspirational video celebrating women who work in a wide variety of Honeywell aviation jobs, alongside motivational text: "The sky isn't the limit, it's just the beginning. Aviation awaits you. Dare to dream. Dare to fly. Reach for the sky."
For women and girls dreaming of an aviation career, Honeywell also spotlighted pilot Erika Armstrong. From the front desk of a busy Fixed Base Operator (FBO) at the Flying Cloud Airport in Minnesota, USA, to the captain's seat of a commercial airliner, Erika has experienced many careers in aviation.
"Being a pilot is truly the most amazing job you can ever have. I can't explain what it's like to be up at 50,000 feet in a corporate jet, looking down on the curvature of the world," said Erika."Just thinking I'm up here doing this. It's the things you get to see and the people you get to meet that make the job so special. No two days are the same."
