Capgemini works to bridge the digital divide to ensure that technology is accessible to everyone. As part of this commitment, World Youth Skills Day saw Capgemini reflect on its efforts to drive digital inclusion

World Youth Skills Day celebrates the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.

"Our ongoing efforts to bridge the digital divide include a range of programs worldwide, like YouthHub in India, the Green Rising initiative in the global south with Generation Unlimited and UNICEF and over 50 Digital Academies upskilling and reskilling youth in 10 locations globally. Since 2018, our digital inclusion initiatives have impacted the lives of 4.37M beneficiaries, and we look forward to strengthening our commitment towards shaping positive futures for all with innovation. On World Youth Skills Day, we also thank our volunteering colleagues for sharing their passion and skills to empower the youth," said Capgemini.

Supporting the next generation of innovators

Capgemini believes people should never be limited in work and life by a lack of digital skills, and that the next generation of innovators should be supported. By using the skills and passions of its people, Capgemini is bridging the digital divide to ensure people have a future where technology is an opportunity for everyone. As part of Capgemini's efforts to close the gap, Capgemini is engaging in a number of initiatives designed to teach digital skills to those that need them, and create new pathways to careers in tech:

  • Capgemini's digital literacy programs aim to bridge the digital divide. They provide access to digital tools and devices, teach foundational digital skills to the uninformed and untrained, and inspire young people and women to pursue careers in tech.
  • Capgemini's 40 digital academies provide specialized training in IT capabilities and IT enabled skills (ITES) to disadvantaged populations to help them find sustainable employment and reach financial independence. For example, we’re training and hiring 500 women from rural backgrounds in India to empower them to become valuable members of our workforce, while over 2,300 digital academy graduates have been hired so far by Capgemini.
  • Through Capgemini's Technology for Positive Futures strategy, Capgemini focuses on leveraging technology to create positive societal impact. From hackathons to the development of new services, Capgemini engages its people to develop innovative solutions to social and environmental challenges
