DHL understands that leveraging the company's strengths and pooling its efforts can make even a minor act have a massive impact.

When DHL employees put their skills to good use in their local communities, they not only help to solve problems but also cultivate a spirit of teamwork and belonging.

These forces, once unleashed, have the power to grow into something far greater and ignite a collective sense of compassion and community that carries over into the workplace.

As part of this volunteering commitment, DHL marked International Youth Day through bringing greater awareness of youth issues to the attention of the international community and highlighting the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society.

Improving employment opportunities for youth

On International Youth Day, DHL reflected on GoTeach, a program that aims to improve employment opportunities for young people, especially those from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds.

"Happy International Youth Day! Through DHL GoTeach, thousands of our employees volunteer every year to equip young people from vulnerable backgrounds in over 70 countries with employability skills and professional interactions needed to transition successfully," said DHL.

Creating employee mentors and role models

DHL's global team is a pool of 600,000 potential role models - and the company wants to enable them to share their knowledge and expertise. DHL's people have transitioned from school to work and overcome their own challenges. They are well-equipped to share their experience and support those looking for guidance. DHL's vision is to empower young people to attain the skills they need to be prepared for what lies ahead so they can live successful and independent lives.

DHL designs its GoTeach activities to enable young people to explore potential careers, define their professional ambitions, identify their talents, develop skills, and gain first-hand insights into the working world. DHL volunteers act as mentors and role models, showing youth what life is like in the workplace. This gives GoTeach participants a look behind the scenes, opening them up to new career ideas and opportunities they never knew existed.

Collaborating with global organizations

To maximize its impact, DHL partners with renowned global organizations SOS Children's Villages and Teach For All. These longstanding, strategic partnerships enable DHL to connect its colleagues to young people worldwide who can benefit most from DHL's support.

GoTeach provides local impact on a global scale. By working intimately with Teach For All network partners and SOS Children's Villages, DHL volunteers make a difference in their communities while belonging to a worldwide community of volunteers working to improve the lives and futures of young people.
