Capgemini UK has won both ‘Best Diversity & Inclusion Initiative’ and ‘Best Video’ at the Recruitment Marketing Awards for its 'Respectfully Us' programme.
Described as "brave and bold" by the judges, 'Respectfully Us' empowers Capgemini UK employees to take responsibility for creating a respectful and inclusive workplace and encourages all of its people to stand up to inappropriate behaviour in all its guises.
Respect is at the heart of inclusion
"We are so proud to get this recognition for our work on respect in the workplace, which we call 'Respectfully Us'. For me, respect is at the heart of inclusion," says Capgemini Head of Employee Experience and Inclusion Bal Gill.
"There is always more to do but getting this award tells us we are moving in the right direction. A big thank you to everyone that has been involved and is supporting us to create a truly respectful and inclusive workplace."
Opening conversations up about workplace respect
'Respectfully Us' is a transformative change programme for all employees that is primarily facilitated in small team meetings with the help of a thought-provoking video created by agency Pink Squid.
The programme enables colleagues to talk about about respect and how to be an upstander, rather than a passive bystander, in a range of difficult scenarios. The aim is to ensure inappropriate behaviours are tackled early, before they become habitual or more serious.
Creating an honest and unflinching video
The judges applauded the programme's aim to "break the silence" and make it easier for colleagues to talk about issues such as bullying, harassment and abuse of power.
Of the Respectfully Us video, the judges commented: "This unflinching and honest approach meant that the end result brought these very real experiences to life and was hard to ignore."
