Shaping a more inclusive workplace, AECOM Texas Executive Wendy Lopez is leading by example and mentoring with Pride.
Wendy spoke with Bizwomen about how she creates a culture of inclusivity at AECOM, driven by a belief that infrastructure creates opportunity for everyone, and when employees feel free to be themselves, they thrive.
As well as leading by example and encouraging open conversations around identity, Wendy serves as a mentor for LGBT+ engineering students and shapes company policies to encourage Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
A member of the 20-person ED&I Steering Committee, Wendy also helps shape and roll out AECOM’s ED&I global framework and strategy, and is an executive sponsor of AECOM’s Pride Employee Resource Group.
"The right leadership, policies and culture improve talent attraction and retention, increasing productivity and engagement," says Wendy.
"Every organization and employer needs to reflect on their own values, ensuring they respect every individual for who they are, encouraging them to bring that energy, perspective and diversity of thought to work every day."
