DHL Global Forwarding believes in the power of creating meaningful value for our society and environment.

As such, DHL Global Forwarding proudly celebrated the Global Volunteer Day (GVD), DHL's initiative focused on voluntary support for social projects and those in need worldwide.

"Doing good things for our communities is a source of joy, and it’s also our responsibility as part of society," said DHL Global Forwarding.

Visiting a refugee shelter

This year, DHL Global Forwarding colleagues from DHL's Global Head Office in Bonn, Germany, visited the refugee shelter, where they engaged in various activities to support the children and brighten their living environment.

Together,  DHL Global Forwarding painted their home and organized some very fun-filled experiences.

Caring for the elderly

DHL Global Forwarding also extended its care to the elderly by spending quality time with them at an elderly home.

"By actively participating in GVD, we demonstrate our commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. Join us in our journey to create a positive impact and be part of something greater than ourselves," said DHL Global Forwarding.

Meaningful interactions within local communities

Global Volunteer Day is part of DHL Global Forwarding's corporate social responsibility efforts - a program that provides the framework to facilitate employee volunteering at the local level in close collaboration with independent local organizations and charities.

Celebrated each year, Global Volunteer Day sees DHL employees take part in creative, meaningful and powerful interactions with communities. These interactions can include aspects like planting trees, cleaning up rubbish, arranging activities for children, renovating refugee shelters, knitting bird nests, and much more.

Contributing to DHL's corporate responsibility

Global Volunteer Day was initiated in the Asia-Pacific region in 2008 and soon expanded to the Americas, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

Employees take part in a variety of activities which contribute to the three main Corporate Responsibility focus areas:

  • GoGreen (environmental protection)
  • GoHelp (putting employee expertise to work to provide emergency relief to people in need)
  • GoTeach (improving educational opportunity and employability)

Employee volunteering in the context of Global Volunteer Day is not limited to a single day or single project, but is designed to promote lasting ties between employees and the many local non-profits and charities in which they are involved throughout the year.
