Growing with the organization
Gitte's story in forwarding started many years ago in a company called Universal Air Express, a company that through acquisitions and merges ended up being DHL Global Forwarding as it is known today.
Gitte is currently DHL Global Forwarding's Head of the Ocean Freight in Denmark, and prior to this she has had many different DHL roles and has worked in a variety of departments.
"An absolute strength of the company is that we have the possibility to develop within the organization," shares Gitte.
Striving for continuous improvement
Gitte says that so many things have evolved over the years, but one thing that truly stands out for her is when First Choice was introduced.
"It was super complicated large six sigma projects, and now it is fully embedded into our DNA. Everyone is striving to find better solutions and continuous improvements for our customers and ourselves," explains Gitte.
Proud of DHL Global Forwarding programs
For Gitte, it is vital that she is passionate about the things she does and that she believes in the values of the company, being both locally and globally.
"There are many things I am proud of: our GoGreen, GoHelp and GoTeach programs, our focus on Compliance and by that the integrity we operate with, as well as the investment in developing all of us via our Certified International Forwarder programs, this is extraordinary," shares Gitte.
Fostering unity and collaboration
Gitte explains that she feels proud when every year the world's largest relay-run, DHL stafetten, is held in Denmark, and for a week the country is dressed in yellow and red, with 250,000 people joining from all kinds of companies and organizations.
"This is also a great opportunity to spend and evening with colleagues from our own organization as well as colleagues from the other divisions. An event that truly fosters ONE DHL," says Gitte.
Relaxing and recharging in Denmark
When Gitte is not wearing the yellow cape, she spends time with her family and friends.
Gitte's household includes her husband, their three sons and a dog.
"We have a joint passion for movies in the family and and a 'forced-upon me passion' for football, so travelling to the UK is high on the agenda," says Gitte. "For relaxing and recharging, I love to spend time in our summerhouse at the Westcoast of Denmark."
