Daiva Scoditti, the new account manager with the distribution team at Caterpillar, shares how she prides herself in translating customers' needs into solutions.
How it all started...
Daiva Scoditti worked with direct equipment manufacturers in electric power, marine and gas markets for five years before joining the Caterpillar team in Peterborough, UK working for the Perkins brand.
For more than a year, Scoditti has been an account manager at Caterpillar responsible for third party direct customers, however she has recently progressed into a new role as an account manager with the distribution team. This promotion can be accredited to her previous market experience and her knowledge of the Caterpillar products.
“When I applied for Caterpillar, I wanted to expand my knowledge of the industry, challenge myself to work with new products and to work for a global, highly reputable company. So, I decided I should give it a try and applied for an account manager role. Initially, I felt a little anxious about starting a role in a business selling engines, but soon it turned into excitement and I can now say it was the best career decision I have made so far,” explains Daiva.
A fabulous customer-facing role
Daiva says the highlight of her job is working with customers, and being able to understand and translate customer needs and then work internally to meet or exceed customer expectations. “Helping to make our customers more successful, building trust and good working relationships is something I enjoy a lot. The job is engaging, challenging and you do not get bored as every day is different,” she says.
“One of the most satisfying projects I have worked on was delivering an engine for light tower applications. Working closely with other teams and the customer, we identified the critical customer needs at the start of the project and were able to translate them into a solution which is now being used in their products.”
Daiva's role as an account manager provides her with an opportunity to travel frequently to visit customers, as well as attend various events and trade shows to continue her knowledge and learning as it pertains to the industry.
The strength of women supporting women
“I enjoy working at Caterpillar because career and personal growth is taken seriously. You develop short and long-term career plans and review your progress with your manager,” she comments. Daiva is also involved in a diversity and inclusion group, the Women’s Initiative Network (WIN), with responsibility for communications. WIN focuses on building the strength of women and creating empowered connections across Caterpillar to drive personal and professional growth.
