WTW internships are designed to provide maximum insight into WTW's business and the best possible preparation for a future career.
WTW interns apply what they've learned at university to real-life intellectual challenges. They gain immediate exposure to client assignments doing work that takes them out of their comfort zone, offering something new and unexpected every day.
WTW Actuarial Analyst, Neha Kapoor, shares her journey as an intern with WTW, the ways in which she has developed, and why this was the best career choice for her.
Client interaction while on internship program
Neha Kapoor works as a WTW Actuarial Analyst in Retirement Consulting in India. She describes that she chose WTW for her internship because for her, it is amazing that the company has such a wide variety of projects to work on.
As many of WTW's interns go on to join the company in graduate roles, WTW invests a lot of time and energy into ensuring its internships provide as much insight as possible into a WTW career.
"You do not get restricted to just one kind of monotonous work. Also, you get to have that client interaction and that consulting feeling at a very young stage of your career, which was the main attraction for me," explains Neha.
Gaining knowledge in soft and technical skills
WTW has a wide variety of opportunities for its interns to contribute to client projects and experience first-hand what the company does and how it does it. WTW also helps its interns to develop key skills, such as presenting and project management.
Neha explains that during her time with WTW, the company has enabled her to gain confidence in herself by talking to the clients, and also getting her own clients for project management projects very soon after joining WTW. For Neha, this has helped a lot with brushing up on her soft skills as well as technical skills.
"I started my internship in October 2020 and my main goal then was to just get a permanent role, and I got permanent within just six months of joining here, and I was ready to take on the responsibility of client management, training other interns, working and delivering some special projects," says Neha.
Advice for future WTW interns
Some key advice that Neha would suggest to anyone looking to join WTW on the internship program is that they should try to learn as much as possible and to not shy away from opportunities.
"Just know that there will always be a team to support you and just help you build your knowledge," comments Neha.
